PALM HAVEN SUMMARY REPORT
Month of January 2017 The group “I AM WORLD WIDE” visited Palm Haven Christian children’s Home last January 19, 2017 at around 4:00 PM. The owner was a brother of our brethren from Ulas church. They have been looking for an agency that has not been visited/benefited from the government. Brother James Fernandez referred our Children’s Home to them. Last February 9, 2017 at around 4:00 PM, we had 1 child admitted in Palm Haven referred by the Quick Response Team for Child’s Concern-CSSDO (QRTCC). After interviewing the social worker, Rose was asked to weight and measure the child. The Grade 9 students of Holy Child College of Davao visited Palm Haven last February 13, 2017 as they celebrated the “Love Month”. This is their way of showing love to the children. They prepared a short program and gave foods and cards to the children. January 3, 2015, we (Marvin Languido, Charles & Charity Aban) went back again to Gensan to attend the first foundation church anniversary in our compound. We left Davao at about 2:00 PM and arrived Gensan at 4:30 PM. In our arrival, we see them all including those who were newly baptized very busy preparing the place in the compound. We saw them on fire on their obligation to the church and it’s really a big relief for the family having them all helped in the preparation. Bro. Daniel Santos, acting minister and founder of the church was there. Seeing us, he was very happy since, he considered us partner in the ministry there. We thank GOD for our mother, Josefa Aban who allowed us to use the lot temporarily as a place of worship. It is good to know that the place became an instrument for our neighbours there to know Christ. Praying for a lot more souls... God is indeed using everyone for HIS Glory. The following day, the members who cooked and prepares the food was a newly baptized. Sister Nancy said that she felt fulfilling to serve the children of God. According to her, before she became Christian, all troubles & problems are really very heavy for her, but as today that she became Christian she just prayed to God for intervention and all her pains are automatically surrendered to Him. She can sleep well and have a peace of mind. In the afternoon of Sunday at around 2:30 PM, we started our worship service in the compound. Many neighbours were invited and some of the church leaders in Gensan. By the way, one also of the newly baptized, Bro. Jovert donated a lechon or a roasted pig weighing 86 kilos. There were a lot of assorted fruits offered by the church members and all church leaders were given a take home fruits as give-aways. The service started with a praise and worship, then offering and communion. Then after, the history was read by Bro. Daniel Santos. Almost all of the church members gave their testimonies how they became christian and all of them inspired us all to really have a fire in serving our only true God. All children of the members offered a presentation “IF I WERE A BUTTERFLY” Their parents prepared all their costumes. After the service is the dinner fellowship, and those children who were part of their Sunday school have received a give-aways. After worship at around 8:30 in the evening, we went home to Davao driven by Marvin and arrived safely home happy and fulfilled. Praise for the year 2014!
We had our Children’s Christmas party in the house. We had an estimate of more than 50 children attendees. Parents were also invited. The cousin of Charity from abroad donated two thousand pesos for the party. We decided to buy those children give-aways. Charity bought whistles, trumpets, water guns, Lego’s and candies for prizes. It was a much enjoyed Christmas party. In the message, I presented a story sermon to the children, and I told them that Christmas is not about santa claus. It is about the birth of a SAVIOUR and He is the reason for the season. The parents also agreed with it. At first, we had our party at the back of our house but we transferred in the second floor of our house since it was raining hard. The children presented a song and those who are three (3) years old presented a Christmas alphabet acronym. After the presentation, we had our games then the exchanging gifts amounting to 20.00 only. We asked the parents to prepare their children a gift of food-No toys. After the program, we gave them their give-aways and when they opened their bags, the house became very noisy because all children whistled to the fullest, and those who received the trumpet also was very noisy. We just laugh the whole afternoon. Praise GOD for this experience.
We (Menes, Merry & Shem Alim, Charles & Charity Aban) went to T’boli, South Cotabato for our year end outing. We started our travel at around 8:00 in the morning and we dropped by Gensan to get some of the used clothes donated by the brethrens for T’boli. Then after, we go on with our travel to Marbel and took first our lunch then we proceeded to T’boli. We arrived in T’boli at just about 5:10 in the afternoon. It was a loaded travel since we carried a musical instrument for a sort of a Christian concert in the area. During our arrival, leaders of our daughter churches in the area welcomed us. We did not expect that they already have prepared a native chicken soup for our dinner. We were so happy because before, they waited for us before they will prepare the food because, we are bringing our own food, but now, they already are preparing something for their visitors. After we took our dinner, we already have started our program and the praise and worship team who led the program was from T’boli. It was Spirit filled worship and we were blessed by their songs and lifted our hearts unto the Lord with thanksgiving. After our night worship, we had socialization with the new members of the church which is newly opened Sitio Emlok. Our office, helped provided the materials of the said church building. After our socialization with them, we took our good night rest. Early morning the following day, most of our companions’ from Davao and from Marvel, went to the river to take bath. They were very enjoyed and excited with their experiences. At around 8:30 after breakfast, we had a sports festival. Then after, a formal Christmas party followed. Charity cooked a chocolate zagu and Merry Alim helped served it to the children. On that night, we again have a service and by this time, our companions from Marbel had their concert. After the sermon is the calling and there were 10 souls who received Christ as their Lord and Saviour. The following morning, they were brought to the river and were baptized officiated by their local minister. We spent 4 nights and 3 days in T’boli. It was good to feeling that we were part of the lives of the people in T’boli. They were just like a family to us. December 26, 2014, we went down to Marbel to attend their church anniversary. Bro. Jhonny Sapio doesn’t want us to go home yet, since he wanted us to really attend the celebration, so we helped in the preparation of the said anniversary. The following morning of December 27, 2014, I and Charity went to Gensan to attend and witness the baptism of our 3 neighbours in who accepted Christ. Bro. Daniel Santos my child mate called me up and insisted to attend the witnessing of the baptism, so we decided not to go back yet to Marbel. It was indeed a celebration that our neighbours have already known Christ and wanted to take the Christian baptism. In the evening, we went back to Marbel and the following day, attended their church anniversary celebration. It’s very fulfilling for me to feel very happy because, those who prepared the food and the preparation are newly baptized Christian. After the anniversary, we went home to Davao and arrived very late at night since we sensed something trouble from the pick-up. It was so noisy in the back part the pick-up’s body and we felt that is was a total damage. We asked Marvin to pick us up in the house of Bro. Menes because we really felt that the pick-up would cause accident. Bro. Marvin arrived in Bro. Menes’s house at around 10:30 PM. Praise GOD for HE protected us from danger and arrived home safely.

3rd CHURCH PLANTING PROJECT From Imamaling, Magpet, Cotabato we proceeded to the residence of the Pineros for goodnight rest. Tomorrow is the scheduled church building BAYANIHAN. Early morning of December 3, 2014 we went to Alegria at around 6:00 in the morning. When we arrived the place, I found out that the members of Imamaling church were already there, hauling the lumbers to be used for the building to be built. The location of the lumber is 2 kilometers away distant from the place where we will build the church building. With the numbers of the volunteers, it was made and delivered early. When the carpenters arrived,we gather the group and dedicated the place to God and have the ground breaking ceremony and prayers. At around 2:00 PM the building has a roof, chairs, tables and pulpit, ready for use. Others are on top doing the roofing while others are also doing their part below preparing the ground level. Bro. Jerry Langomes, an AFC seminarian is happy doing his job. Even the women were also happy in helping the men. Everybody is happy because this is all for the glory of God. CHURCH PLANTING

The people living in this area mostly are Muslims and B’laan tribe native of Davao del Sur, Columbio and South Cotabato. From Davao City it took 5 hours travel with our vehicle. There are two existing churches at the Municipality of Columbio: MALENGEN CHURCH OF CHRIST the minister is Arjay Hayana a product of AFC In-Service Training Seminar, and the other one is in TELAFAS CHURCH OF CHRIST the minister is also the product of AFC Bro. Romeo . SUCOB CHURCH OF CHRIST our 2nd project is a partnership work of Koronadal City Bro. Johnny Sapio as their minister who Pioneered the work at Koronadal City my partner before because the Koronadal Church is being financed by Metro Dadiangas Church of Christ which is my home church where I serve for 7 years as youth minister. But when I became a member of AFC our partnership continue specially with the mission work at Lambuling, T’boli, South Cotabato and presently our mission at Sucob, Columbio, Sultan Kudarat. Bro. MANUEL MADAYAM is our pioneering worker at that place. Bro. Madayam started his mission with the children because the adult is very hard headed, but as the time goes on the parents already started to attend the worship in the temporary place of worship. Bro. Madayam started to establish good relationship with the people of that area. He has already baptized 7 souls on that place. There are already families invited him for a bible study. Our team who helped build a church at Sucob: CHARLES ABAN with my loving wife CHARITY who prepare our food, MENES ALIM, NESTOR FERNANDEZ, JOHNNY SAPIO, ARIEL- Leader of Koronadal City, ROMEO, MANUEL MADAYAM, ONYOK- leader of TELAFAS, ARJAY HAYANA and his wife BEBE, REXPHER SOLUTAN the minister of CONDRING CHURCH of CHRIST, we intentionally brought him because he has a lot of relatives on the area, and he grew up on that area. Due to limited number of the team who helped we have not finish the work on that day but even we are few there are things we had accomplished, the ministers and leaders of the established churches promised to do the roofing. Last week Bro. Manuel Madayam the minister informed us that the roof was fully installed with the helped of the two churches in Columbio. Glory to God in the Highest. Thanks for the Donors. |
